Garnacho: The Player to Watch This Season

Alejandro Garnacho, an 18-year-old phenom from the United academy, is a player to watch this upcoming season. Born in Spain, the Argentinian national has trained with the GOATs: Messi, Ronaldo, and maybe even himself in the future. 

Garnacho has it all lined up: playing with Manchester United, a strong national team in Argentina, and the skill to make it to the top. This season is crucial to the next chapter of Garnacho's story. Ten Hag's reign at United could make his career, or break it. 

How Garnacho performs will be scrutinized by first-team coaches, determining if this is the next youngster to cement his place in the squad. But if you truly care about the future of the club, his performances are what every fan should watch this season.

After protracted negotiations with Ajax, Manchester United were successful in securing a £60M move for Lisandro Martinez. The Argentine center back, known as the "butcher of Amsterdam" is known for his tenacity, aggression, and composure at the back. He is a left footed CB which United do not currently possess. Having a left footed centre back in your side is crucial for opening passing angles and lanes that you would typically struggle to do with a right footed CB playing LCB.  A lot has been said about Martinez's height or lack there of. Christian Eriksen

Manchester United secured the signing of free agent Christian Eriksen beating off competition from Brentford. Ordinarily, United don’t expect to compete with a club like Brentford for a signing, but it really was up in the air where he would ultimately end up. Eriksen enjoyed a productive comeback to the Premier League with Brentford last season and so it genuinely was a consideration to go back there. Ultimately, the allure of Manchester United, Ten Hag's project, and previous experience with the manager's inner workings (i.e., he was allowed to train with Ajax after his departure from Inter due to his heart condition) possibly swayed Eriksen's mind.  In my opinion, this transfer was an absolute no-brainer. Tyrell Malacia

Tyrell Malacia was signed from Dutch club Feyenoord for £15M and became Erik Ten Hag's 1st signing. Many were annoyed by this move because it didn’t really address a problem position or an area where there was a significant need. This was particularly compounded by the fact that United had one of their worst ever seasons and there were more pressing needs and positions that required replacing. At the time Malacia was signed, the club already had Luke Shaw, Alex Telles, and Brandon Williams as left back options. While it is obvious that Malacia is better than the latter two, it remains to be seen whether he can replace Luke Shaw. At the surface, this could be viewed as a depth signing.
